The Studio Open House has come and gone and I am exhausted! I just want to say thanks to the participants and to those who showed up.. I had a great time and even made some acquaintences that I think will turn into true friendships!

After putting together an event like this for your business, you either want to quit or move forward. I must have been overly tired because again, I was ready to quit. I wake up this morning and what do I do? Lay out the foundation to streamline and take the business further. I was also ready to quit because a very savvy busineswoman showed me what I'm doing wrong (even though she won't realize it until after reading this blog).

My first mistake has been in not utilizing my website wisely. I honestly don't have the patience (but yet, I can make an evening gown by hand) or the technical expertise to design an awesome website. I honestly thought that since I own a clothing line, people will want to see and feel the items before becoming interested. Wrong! People aren't interested unless you have a nice website to grab their attention. It's almost like when music videos were at the height of popularity: the video made or broke the song. I will be adding inventory as I take the pictures.

My second mistake has been in my own laziness. I kept using my children and my job as an excuse. I was shown that shouldn't prohibit me from doing what needs to be done to advance the business. In that aspect, I will be contacting various boutiques in New York to get the line sold down there. I will keep everyone posted on the results.
